Tour Lenape Village –Every Sunday from April 11th to October 24th Time of Tours: 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM See a working Lenape Village like it was in the 1500’s. Try your hand at doing some of the hands-on activities, such as corn pounding, Lenape games, hunting, scraping a hide, fire making, and rope making. Every week there will be a different craft or skill featured. These are things the school groups never have time for. Lenape Village At Churchville Nature CenterIs open to the public on SundaysCome out and visit an authentic Lenape Indian village, the way it would have been in the 1500’s just prior to European contact. See how they planted their gardens, built dugout canoes, cooked, dried and stored their foods, what animals they hunted and what weapons they used, how they made fire by friction, how they made coil pottery, and how they made cordage from natural materials. You can also play some Lenape games and do some Native American dances.
The village is open for tours every Sunday - 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM. Starting April 11th, till Oct. 24th, 2010 Cost: $5 per person Children under 4 free Pre-registration required.
Forth weekend of July is our Lenape Village Pow-wowHeld at Core Creek County Park Sat. 10:00 am – 8:00 pm, Sun. 10:00 am – 6:00 pm Cost: $6 Adults $4 Students & Seniors $3 Children (4-12) Under 4 free Come out and see a Lenape village, Native American Dancers, and crafters, Native foods, and learn how different Native American tribes live today. Scout Sunday Tours April 11th to Nov. 21st 1:00 – 4:00 PM Cost: $5 Come out and learn about the Lenape culture, dwellings, dress, foods and its preparation, games, animals hunted for, cordage and much more. These are the qualifications for the Indian lore badge and many other badges.
